About the Guest Program

The Guest Program for the 2019 International Highway Engineering Exchange Program is currently under development and may change due to circumstances, attendance, etc. With that said this is what we are Currently planning on doing.

Monday

The North Carolina Arboretum
Nestled in the Southern Appalachian Mountains just south of Asheville, The North Carolina Arboretum offers acres of cultivated gardens and groomed trails featuring some of the most beautiful, botanically-diverse plants in the region.
Asheville River Arts District
We will be visiting the North Carolina Glass Center where guests will have the opportunity to receive a guided experience to create your own glass keepsake in our "hotshop" or glass blowing studio. In this hands-on class, students work one-on-one with an experienced instructor to create a piece of glass art. Choose between crafting a paperweight, ornament or drinking glass, then customize your piece with your choice of colors, learn the basics, and feel free to ask questions as your instructor will assists you during the entire process! All levels welcome.

Visit the Thomas Wolfe House
The Thomas Wolfe House, also known as the Thomas Wolfe Memorial, is a state historic site, historic house and museum located at 52 North Market Street in downtown Asheville, North Carolina. The American author Thomas Wolfe lived in the home during his boyhood.

French Broad Chocolate factory tour
The bean-to-bar chocolate factory and tasting room were established in 2012 to handcraft chocolate from cocoa beans we import directly from the source. During the tour you will learn about cacao cultivation and processing, and our artisan methods of chocolate production from. Join us to see how we make chocolate!
Biltmore Village
Biltmore Village, located across from the entrance to Biltmore Estate in Asheville, is home to more than 40 shops and ten cafes and restaurants. Most businesses are housed in historic cottages and buildings. Tree-lined streets, brick sidewalks and period architecture (including the Cathedral of All Souls) make the area a delight to stroll and explore.
